Service Description

Beginner Class Do you knit, crochet, or weave? Ever long for a yarn you just can’t seem to find? Do you simply wonder how yarn is made? Come and learn to spin with us! This class will introduce students to the basics of handspinning. This includes two worsted drafting techniques, controlling the diameter of your yarn, use of a spindle and spinning wheel, and two plying techniques. We will also discuss topics such as how to choose different fibers for your projects, various yarn construction techniques, and how to finish your yarns. Absolutely no experience is necessary to join this class. Students will leave with the skills needed to produce 2 and 3 ply yarns in standard knitting sizes. Spindles are available to purchase from the instructor with advanced notice, and a very limited number of wheels are available for rent. Fiber for the first skein is provided by the instructor. More fiber can be purchased from the instructor as needed.
