Adult Spinning Class
An ongoing class for all levels. March afternoon class.
Service Description
Beginner-Advanced Class Do you already spin and want a refresher, or to expand or refine your skills? Have you taken our introduction class and want to keep learning? Then this class is for you! Classes are designed to be fun and informative, and take place in a relaxed, no-pressure environment. We will cover beginning to intermediate spinning skills on an on-going basis. This includes both worsted and woolen drafting techniques, controlling the diameter of your yarn, expanded use of a spindle and spinning wheel, and several plying techniques. We will also discuss topics such as how to choose different fibers for your projects, processing fleeces from start to finish, limited breed information, various yarn construction techniques, and how to finish your yarns. Even experienced spinners will get a chance to expand their horizons. Students must have completed our Introduction to Handspinning class or made prior arrangements with the instructor. Bring your spindle or spinning wheel if you have one. Spindles are available to purchase from the instructor with advanced notice, and a very limited number of wheels are available for rent. Fiber for the first skein is provided by the instructor. More fiber can be purchased from the instructor as needed. This class comes with in-studio access to the library and a weekly three-hour Open Studio time. See the instructor for available Open Studio slots.
